The Saint Hubert Gallery/Koninklijke Sint-Hubertusgalerijen (Dutch) Brussels

The Saint-Hubert Galleries (aka Koninklijke Sint-Hubertusgalerijen in Dutch and Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert in French) is a glazed shopping arcade located in Brussels, Belgium. This shopping mall beat several other famous ones (Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II in Milan and The Passage in St Petersburg) in terms of taking the lead in this innovative approach to commerce. It's interesting to note that between 1820 and 1880 seven of these covered shopping galleries were built in Brussels. Unfortunately only three survived - the St. Hubert gallery, the Bortier gallery and the Northern Passage. Most of the galleries had shops on the ground level and living quarters on the second level.
