The BELvue Museum is a rather unique concept in terms of what constitutes a museum. Its premier foundation is a Royal exhibition in this house that used to actually be an 18th century hotel for very wealthy travelers. The BELvue Museum is right next to the Royal Palace, located atop Mont des Arts, and showcases memorabilia from the Belgian Royal Dynasty. You can also arrange for audio-visual tours.
You'll find two floors of exceptional artifacts preserved in a way that enhances their ability to tell their historical significance. The rooms here are still in the original styles of Louis XV and Napoleon III. The furniture dates from the 18th century. The courtyard is now a winter garden. It's truly amazing what you can learn about Belgium and its role in history by cruising this museum. You'll find information and displays that address the 1830's independence uprising right on through to the present state of the Monarchy of Belgium. All this is achieved through the use of historical documents, pictures and rare films.
