Saint Barthelemy located in Liege, Belgium was originally built with sandstone coal at the end of the 11th century. Of course, as with many churches of this era, it saw many changes over the passing centuries. In the 18th century, two naves were added, which at the time seemed a bit eccentric, since the outside of the church was neo-classical and the inside was done in French baroque. The interior of the west section of Saint Barthelemy has been restored to its original style.

The church houses many works of art, especially a noted painting by Bertholet Flémalle Liege (1614-1675), known as the Glorification of the Holy Cross. Fonts baptismaux dits de Renier de Huy - Le baptême du Christ Look for the unique baptismal tank that is held up by ten oxen and represents five scenes – the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River, the preaching of St. John the Baptist, Catechumenes Baptism, the Centurion Cornelius being baptised and the baptism of the philosopher Craton. Interesting note: in 2006 this church underwent some major renovation work that included replacing 10,000 stones and restoring the walls with polychrome.
