The Museum of the Fort of Embourg, located in Embourg, province of Liege, Wallonia, Belgium isn't all that old. In fact it has only been open since 1973. Museum of the Fort of Embourg is actually the first museum on Belgian fortifications and does itself proud with the quality of its exhibits. This museum takes a very different look at WW I and WW II through a unique collection of arms, costumes and equipment. In some cases, you swear the display is about to talk to you.

You can visit the Museum of the Fort of Embourg all year round, but check for holidays before taking the trip there. It will also open on request for visitors, so long as there are a minimum of 5 people in a group. You will also be interested in the outside areas of the fort, as they are quite well suited to youth group visits – for instance, scouts, cubs, role playing or even sports clubs. Interesting note: during the winter months the fort is also home to a small number of bats seeking shelter in the tranquility of the gallery.
