Our favourite hotels near Medieval Castle of Corroy

One of the better examples of medieval architecture in Belgium is the medieval castle of Corroy built around 1270 by Earl Philippe de Vianden. The other most outstanding feature about this castle is the fact that it is in perfect condition – something that is very rare. It has never been sold and has passed down through the generations. The castle is currently owned and occupied by the Marquee of Trazegnies. The plan used to build the castle of Corroy is known as the pentagonal plan. This features four towers and is chockfull of dynamite décor that dates between the 13th and 19th centuries. You'll also find a fair number of masterpieces as well. The master hall and chapel are done in rare marble and boast decorative paintings.

The castle of Corroy also called Corroy-le-Chateau is 6 km southwest of Gembloux. It has a moat and a massive gate building, drawbridge and seven exceedingly huge round towers, part of a defensive ring around Brabant. Even though this castle did undergo some renovations in the 18th century, it did not change the castle's overall appearance. This is a must see location on your trip to Belgium.
