Such stories the Musée Archéologique (Archaeological Museum) will tell you when you visit the brick building that houses it. It was once, in 1590, the former meat hall, but now features an extremely comprehensive collection of antiquities from the Province of Namur. Most of the collection features artifacts from the Roman, Frankish, and Merovingian periods (from the 1st to the 7th century). Most of the Roman antiquities were found in the Namur area.

The Musée Archéologique (Archaeological Museum) is considered to be one of the best in Belgium, and well worth a day's visit to immerse yourself the history of the area. If you're up for it, take a gander at the delicate goldsmith's work and glass work. Both are highly unique and extremely valuable. You'll also find vases, religious items and ceramics found in Roman graves and villas. Of valuable historical interest are the collections of Roman floor mosaics found in villages neighboring Namur.
