We stayed at the Acadamie hotel - three women two of which were middle age (50-60). We had no problems walking to the hotel from the train station and from the hotel all around the center of Brugge. It is located on a side street which does not have much traffic - only horse carriages during the day so it was quiet and provided rest when needed. There is a small grocery store arround the corner and the staff was helpful. The only wish we have for improvement is to have the WIFI in the rooms instead of only in the bar area.
Those seeking superb quality accommodation would be hard pressed to find a better option than the 4-star Academie Hotel. Recommended additions to your trip are Diamond Museum, Lake of Love(Minnewater) and The Lace Center. This accommodation is close to The Town Hall and the Burg Square. Insightful options, Gruuthuse and The Memling Museum are in the near surroundings. A nice monument of Bruges is Belfry Tower, which is close by.
