De Panne is noted for its nature reserves and beautiful beaches – the widest beaches on the Flemish Coast. But De Panne does have a fun side, the op Plopsaland amusement park aimed at children. In fact it is considered to be one of the most child friendly spots in Belgium. De Panne does not have a single break-water so it makes sense the first sand yacht was built there in 1898. The land yacht was created by the Dumont brothers, who started a sport that remains active even today. It's quite the rush to see the sailing cars scoot along at a good clip along the edge of the waves.

De Panne is on the North Sea coast of Belgium in West Flanders. It is also the most western point in Belgium and borders on France. Some of the famous people who lived in De Panne include King Albert I and Queen Elizabeth of Belgium who both lived there during WWI. What a totally gorgeous location to spend your vacation!
