Foz do Iguaçú is the fourth largest city in the state of Parana in Brazil. This area has the highest level of tourism in Brazil, with plenty of accommodation. The inhabitants of the city are known as iguaçuenses, but a lot of the native inhabitants actually work in the neighboring town. While most of the tourists are from other parts of Brazil or from Argentina, an increasing number are British, American or European. The Avenida Brazil is great for shopping, and was revitalized in 2004. One thing that you must see if you visit this part of Brazil are the Iguassu Falls, which have a flow capacity three times that of the Niagara Falls. You can have a relaxing afternoon at Iguazu National Park, and see the Bird Park with its large collection of wild birds, and which also houses the city’s zoo. You shouldn’t miss a visit to the Omar Ibn Al-Khattab, which is said to be the largest Mosque outside of the Middle East.
