St. Nedelya Church in Sofia is most well-known for the terrorist attack that took place on April 16, 1925, in which several members of the communist party successfully plotted to blow up the church dome during the funeral of General Konstantin Georgiev. Most likely built around the 10th century, the current foundations of the church were laid in 1856, and following the bomb attack in 1925 it was rebuilt to the current structure in 1933. Located in the city center, it is close to such other sights as the St. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the National Gallery for Foreign art and the National Art Gallery, and Saints Cyril and Methodius National Library.
