The Central Railway Station in Sofia is the largest train station in Bulgaria, with more than 10,000 people passing through on a daily basis. The current facility includes an overarching white tent as a prominent feature at the entrance, and has been been renovated twice since its initial establishment in 1888. The station is a few kilometers north of the city center and landmarks such as Lions’ Bridge, Sofia University (also known as St. Clement of Ohrid University of Sofia), and the National Library.
In addition, many four- and five-star Sofia hotels are located within just a few minutes drive of the Station. Not only luxury hotels, but also discount hotels in Sofia are to be found within a five to ten kilometer radius of the Railway Station, as well as Sofia’s cheap hotels for the shoestring-budget traveler.
