The Monument to the Unknown Soldier in Sofia honors the many thousands of Bulgarian soldiers that have died in wars for their country but whose remains have never been identified. The Monument has been the setting for many official ceremonies with Bulgaria's president, and consists of a flame to commemorate the soldiers, soil from the sites of two important battles in Bulgarian history, and a sculpture of a lion. Some other sights to be sure to see in the city of Sofia include the National Archaeological Museum, the Earth and Man National Museum, and of course, the Sofia Zoo.
The Monument is located just next to the famous church of St. Sophia.
