The National Museum of History in Sofia is the nation's largest museum, with more than 650,000 items dating from prehistoric times to modern history. First opened in the Court of Justice building in 1984, the Museum was relocated in 2000 to the former home of the last communist leader of Bulgaria. The Museum is open from approximately 9 am to 5 pm year round, excluding holidays.
The Museum's present location is on the outskirts of Sofia, close to Boyana church. Nearby tourist attractions you can visit are for example the Boyana Church, Lokomotiv Stadium, and the National Art Gallery.
