One of the foremost symbols of Varna, the Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral is an impressive sight, both inside and out. The Cathedral is a Bulgarian Orthodox church and was first conceived of in 1880 and completed in 1886. Some of the more outstanding features include the 1.6 ton bell, huge stained glass windows and chandeliers, and a 38 meter high bell tower with a 133-step staircase—at the top of which lies the best view of Varna anywhere. Don't forget to visit some of the other locations in history-rich Varna, such as the Necropolis, Varna Cathedral (also known as Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral), and the Museum of Archaeology.
The Cathedral is located in central Varna, close to just about everything else.
