Carved out of 25-meter high vertical cliffs, Aladzha Monastery speaks of otherworldly dedication to anyone who visits. The monastery was probably inhabited from about the 12th century until the 18th, although it is possible some of the monks' cells date back as far as the 4th century A.D. The walls of the monastery are decorated with frescoes from the Middle Ages in various stages of preservation. Some of the sights to see in nearby Varna include Dormition of the Theotokos Cathedral, the Museum of Archaeology, and Euxinograd Palace.
