First opened in 1968, the Nicholas Copernicus Observatory and Planetarium works closely with high school and university students to increase awareness and stimulate interest in astronomy and science in general. The observatory's main mirror is a Foucault pendulum, along with modern computer equipment and smaller telescopes. In the planetarium, a plush 80 seat arena awaits those who come for the show, along with computer control and surround sound. If science interests you, a few of the other things you should see in nearby Varna include the Naval Museum, the Museum of Archaeology, and the Varna Necropolis. The observatory is located right at the end of Varna's beautiful Seaside Park.
