The Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes, or the National Museum of Fine Arts, is in itself a work of great beauty. Following the style of the Petit Palais of Paris, architect Emilio Jequier designed the palatial building using many Art Nouveau and Neo-Classical styles and techniques. The National Museum of Fine Arts has been around since the late 1800s and as accumulated an impressive collection of paintings, sculptures, and other artwork from local and internationally renowned artists.

Over 2,700 paintings can be found in the National Museum of Fine Arts along with numerous reproductions of other artwork that can be found throughout the world. The art library which is located on the grounds has an extensive archive numbering more than 15,000 volumes. Guided tours are available or visitors to the museum may enjoy the grandeurs and skills of the artists represented here on their own. Today, the National Museum of Fine Arts is considered one of the most impressive and important museums in all of Chile and South America.
