The Museum of Contemporary Art in Santiago is located near the Museum of Fine Arts of the Forest Park area. Opened in 1947 The Museum of Contemporary Arts displays features pieces from the late half of the 19th century and beyond. Works from local and internationally famed artists are displayed here along with sculptures, sketches, and other works of art. Roberto Matta, and Emilio Pettoruti are just two of the many artists featured here.
The Museum of Contemporary Art has two primary objectives; preserving the works of artists in the visual arts and educating and extending the role of Chile as an important institution of arts. The Museum of Contemporary Arts hopes to expand the role of the arts in the lives of Chilean people as well as developing new techniques and artistic trends
