Located in Beijing, China’s famous Forbidden City, the Palace of Heavenly Purity is one of three halls of the former Emperor’s Inner Court, along with the Hall of Union, and the Palace of Earthly Tranquility. The Palace is a great example of classical Chinese architecture that no visitor to Beijing should miss out on. It features a two storey tall pagoda-type structure, with a white marble foundation, and a raised walkway connecting the entire structure to the adjacent Gate of Heavenly Purity.
During the Ming Dynasty, this Palace served as the Emperor’s residence and many of the interior ornaments and furniture are still in place for tourists with a taste for cultural and historical sights. Chief among these is a massive raised throne that the Emperor used when holding audiences with visiting ministers.
