Gate of Supreme Harmony Beijing

One of the Gates leading into the Southern part of the famous Forbidden City, the Gate of Supreme Harmony was built during the Ming Dynasty. It helps form the boundaries of the city’s Great Plaza that is divided by a waterway and the famous Golden River Bridges. North of the Gate, visitors to the Forbidden City can find the Hall of Supreme Harmony. The Hall is accessed by a magnificent stairway adorned with incense burners, a path once reserved for only the Emperor and his closet attendants.
