The Beijing Art Museum of Stone Carvings is an excellent place to visit for those Beijing tourists who want a taste of history, art, and culture all at the same time. Located in the same site as the famous Five Pagoda Temple, the Beijing Art Museum of Stone Carvings is a museum open to the air, and the first in China to offer an exclusive collection of historical stone carvings.
Over 600 carvings are on exhibition for the benefit of tourists and those looking for things to do in Beijing. They date from a variety of eras throughout history, covering dynasties from the Han to the Qing. Guides who speak English are available to offer explanations for the many different exhibits, but call ahead to make sure that one is available on the day that you plan to visit. Special permission can also be afforded to obtain rubbings of certain carvings if you get permission in advance.
