One of the most unique amusement parks in the world, Minsk World in Shenzhen, China is a must see for the tourist with a taste for quirky attractions. The centerpiece of the park is the decommissioned Russian aircraft carrier Minsk, which has been totally retrofitted and redesigned as a tourist attraction. On the fifth floor of the carrier, visitors can marvel at a theatre capable of seating an incredible 776 people, while Russian dance groups perform.
The top deck of the carrier is also massive and home to two helicopters and a historically important specimen: a Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-23 fighter plane. Guards dressed in historical military uniforms offer tours and information about all the sights to see onboard. Minsk World is a bit of an oddity, but is best seen as less of a militaristic wonderland and more of a fusion of Chinese and Russian culture. At the very least, it offers a very appealing opportunity for the tourist who wants something completely different.
