Happy Valley Racecourse Hong Kong

Horse racing fans will enjoy staying in a cheap hotel in Hong Kong near the Happy Valley Racecourse. This is one of just two horse racing venues in Hong Kong, and is located on Hong Kong Island in Happy Valley. The racecourse dates from 1845 when it was first built to provide the British with horse racing entertainment. To do so, the government had to transform the swampland that once existed there. But it was the only flat ground in the area that would serve as a race course. There is also a tragic part of the Happy Valley Racecourse’s story. The venue was the site of one of the worst fires in Hong Kong’s history. In 1918, a fire broke out and quickly spread, killing nearly 600 people.
