When taking in the sights of Hong Kong, one stop you have to make is Po Lin monastery. This is a lovely Buddhist monastery, on a Plateau, located on an island in Hong Kong; the island is called Lantau Island. There are a number of beautiful things too see there, besides all the natural beauty on the outside of the monastery, another reason to go is all the wonderful treasures inside the temples.

In 1906, three monks visited the island from Jiangsu, and founded the monastery, which was originally called The Big Hut. Located within the monastery’s main temple there are three exquisitely made bronze statues of the Buddha, which are representative of his past, his present, and his future. Many Buddhist scriptures are also located within this main temple. In 1993, the Tian Tan Buddha was completed; this is s giant beautiful Buddha statue which is an extension of the monastery.
