When staying in one of the many discount hotels near the Hong Kong Stadium, visitors to the city should plan to take in one of the many sporting or culture events held at the massive facility. Although relatively new and only opened in 1994 Hong Kong Stadium was actually redesigned from the old Government Stadium, which was previously the major sporting venue. The new stadium is designed for football and rugby, not for track and field events as was the old stadium.

The Hong Kong Stadium provides seating for 40,000 spectators. This includes two different levels, main and upper, as well as 3,153 executive seats.
