While exploring the sights in Hong Kong, Chi Lin Nunnery is one you should see. When you arrive you can enjoy the beautiful sight of the garden, admiring the magnificent trees and breathtaking sight of the water falling from the statues in the garden out front free of charge. After that you simply must see the beautiful statues of wood, clay, stone, and gold. These statues are of Guanvin the godess of mercy, Sakyamuni Buddha and other bodhisattvas.
Although the buildings in this present day have been rebuilt, they were done in the style of Tang architecture. This truly unique style of architecture uses special interlocking systems that are cut directly into the wood. The buildings of Chi Lin Nunnery are the only ones in modern Hong Kong to be built with wooden rooftops and without even a single nail used; this is made possible by the interlocking system I mentioned. The nunnery buildings are a sight you will fondly remember.
