The original name of the Mong Kok Station was the Argyle Station, so named for a neighboring road. With the change over to the Island Line the station was renamed for the area in which it is located in Kowloon.
The Mong Kok Station is heavily used with over 200,000 passengers per day using the train system. In addition, travelers to and from destinations near Mong Kok Station in Hong Kong also have access to bus and minibus lines that stop just outside. This large sized underground station has an open design and hosts 16 shops, vending machines, ATMs as well as four different platforms.
