"Very nice hotel, fantastic location, with horrible internet"
I really enjoy staying here. Location is great, very friendly staff that speaks passable English. Nice pool, gym is acceptable by Chinese standards.Internet is a joke, though. 36RMB a day, and it doesn't work very well. I don't mind paying for good internet, and I don't mind bad internet (this is China, after all) as long as I'm not paying for it. But if you need steady data stream you're not going to get it. Lots of dropped Skype calls, downloads interrupted, then you have to log back on.Overall a very good value, especially for the location, which is fantastic. Close to the Dapuqiao shopping area and metro line 9. Nice rooms with balconies. TV gets CNN International, ESPN, HBO, and Cinemax. No complaints there either. It's just a shame that the internet is so frustrating. They don't offer it in the lobby or common areas either, which is unusual for a hotel even in Shanghai. So if you're indifferent about internet

 "Internet is an embarrassment"
It's a nice place to stay. Decent pool, fantastic location in Dapuqiao. But the internet is a joke, and they charge $6 a day for it. I don't mind paying for good internet, and I don't mind a lousy connection if I don't have to pay for it. But you do pay, and the connection is slow, spotty, cuts in and out. I use Skype back to America and Europe, and have calls dropped and disconnected in the middle of them, all because the internet just stops working for a few minutes.I've stayed at other Rayfont properties in Shanghai, and internet is free. It's a shame; this is their best facility in Shanghai. Also, be wary of the taxis that park in the driveway, waiting for tolls. Twice now they've run a very fast meter. Just go out to Xietu Lu instead and hail a cab, and save yourself half the money you would spend otherwise.

 "Decent for Price"
If you are looking for a place to sleep that is reasonably priced this fits the bill although be warned that this isn't your typical hotel in the states in terms of cleansliness. The sheets and bedding are clean so you should be fine when it comes to getting a decent nights sleep. The walls, table tops, shower, etc. could use some work as they were not the cleanest... the walls were dirty with footprints on them and should be repainted, the counter/table tops are dusty - don't think the maids clean that at all, and the showers should be retiled as it's dirty. I hope this review doesn't detract anyone who wanted to stay here, I just wanted to help manage expectations as this isn't the best hotel I've stayed at in Shanghai but then again it isn't the worst either...
