Shanghai Railway Station, as the name suggests, is the major railway station used in the Shanghai region. For travelers going to or from the city, or looking to visit other locations around China, it is ideally located. For those looking to see the sights of Beijing, it even offers a direct service, non-stop, eight times a day. For travelers looking to move about the country, the Shanghai Railway Station acts as something of a central nexus, and trains are available to take you to an almost endless number of locations, from Beijing to Urumqi, Guangzhou to Wuhan, Qingdao to Zhanjiang, and even to the cities in South China and the Yangtze River Delta.

Tourists visiting Shanghai are bound to make use of the Shanghai Railway Station at least once during their visit, so it pays to know a bit about it. The Station can be reached by taking busses or trains on the Shanghai Metro Line, or directly via taxi.
