On the Adriatic Sea, part of the Dalmatian Coast is the largest island in central Dalmatia. Brac Island is sometimes called an “ocean-lover’s Paradise.” People arrive to stay in Brac Island hotels seeking sun, surf and beach. The beaches are white pebbles or rocks, the most popular being Zlatnirat near Bol. Tourists in Brac Island soon discover why the locals call it the Golden Horn. You can wander the island, exploring Bol’s architecture or leave to go to the other Dalmatian Islands. Brac Island is close to the very popular “Hellish Islands”.
After a weekend, Brac Island can still entertain you with its attractions. Wander by the olives and vineyards of Supetar. Explore the many sheltered coves on the island. There is also the Blaca Desert, the Vidova Gora, the Zlatin Rat Museum and the Museum of Brac in Škrip. In Bol, you can visit the Dominican Monastery from the 15th century home to Tintoretto’s Madonna and Child. There is also a Baroque mansion now housing a Gallery of Contemporary Croatian Art.
