One of the main things to do in Cyprus is to look into the top places of Cyprus tourism. This would take you through one of the main Cyprus attractions, the Kyrenia Castle. The castle is located northeast of Kyrenia. Though the accurate date of construction is not known, but exploration reveals an approximate period of VII A.D., which means it was built by the Byzantines. It is said, Lusignan kings used to rest during war and also during peace. A church on the outer area of the castle walls, belonging to the time of Lusignans and the Byzantines, adds to the beauty of the castle.

The castle’s entry is from the northwest side. On the opposite side is a bridge, which covers the moat. The moat had water earlier to XIV A.D., which provided an inner harbour for the castle.
