There are only ruins remaining of what was once a beautiful Minorite Monastery Complex. The remains of the Chapel's presbytery or cloister now tower above the city. They have now become one of the sights of Beněsov a community in Central Bohemia, around 45 km southeast of Prague, Czech Republic. The Piarist monastic order built the original complex in Beněsov and elsewhere following the design patterns of the famous Italian architect Giovanni Battista Alliprandi. The work rose in the city in 1246 and included the renowned Church of the Ascension of the Virgin. A major fire in the 13th century destroyed the original and, later, the rebuilt structure faced dismantling. Now, all that remains of what was once an extensive complex are soaring Gothic arches.

The ruins are one of the most significant attractions of Beněsov. You can visit the site by walking into the historical quarter of the city (Nu Karlove). It sits near the Gothic Church of St. Nicholas, two tall Bell Towers and the Jewish Cemetery.
