The last residence of the assassinated Archduke Ferdinand of Austria lies in Central Bavaria in the Czech Republic. Within the halls of Konopiste Castle, one of the sights of Bešnov, you can find on display the bullet that killed him. This castle began as a Gothic structure in the 13th century. It sits in the middle of a 225 ha (555-acre) park, complete with a beautiful Rose Garden. The 16th and the 18th centuries introduced changes. Baroque embellishments became an intricate part of the design. This is evident in the interior. You also find it in the display of Late Gothic paintings in the Chapel.

Wander the halls where you can see the antler collection and close to 300,000hunting trophies. The Archduke was an avid hunter. You can also marvel at the artifacts he assembled on the Cult of St. George. A popular Bešnov attraction for visitors is the Armory. Here is the Archduke’s famous collection of weapons.
