In 1958, the Brno-Turany airport opened officially to the public. Over the years, it expanded physically with longer and larger runways and more service. Within the Czech Republic, airplanes fly out from her three times a week to Prague. Besides these domestic flights, there are two types of flights out of the country: charter and international flights. Charter airplanes leave from this airport overseas to various holiday resorts. They include Bulgaria, Croatia, Egypt, Greece, Montenegro, Morocco, Spain, Tunisia and Turkey. There are also daily departures for London/Stanstead, Gerona and Moscow/Vnukovo.
You can easily reach and leave this airport. It is very close to the major Czech Republic highway of D1. The airport also offers you a full range of amenities and services. You can shop at the Duty Free Shop or sit atone of the restaurants. There is a newsagent, a pharmacy and a gift shop. There are also three check-in desks and two gates as well as a car rental, and available taxis. In 2007, the airport also hosted one of the activities in Brno – the Czech International Air Show.
