North West of Budapest is Cheb, a region and a town founded at the bend of the River Ohře. Cheb Castle is the reason why many visitors to come to the region. They wander this city’s Baroque former Town Hall and visit the Municipal Museum. Some visit the Baroque church of St. Clare or the churches of St. Wenceslas or St. Nicholas; or visit the monastery at Teplá or go to the spa town of Marienbad. This can take longer than a weekend. Cheb is a start to explore other regions of Bohemia. A visit to the rest of the Czech Republic can become affordable in this manner. If you have children, consider the children’s spa at Lázně Kynžvart (Königswart). Adults usually go to Marienbad. This town, however, is more than a spa. It houses the three-storied "White Swan". Frédéric Chopin stayed there in 1836. Marienbad also has exhibition space in a remarkable red brick Anglican Church.
