In the lower part of the main square in Vimperk, is the Church of Our Lady of the Visitation. It is, essentially, a Gothic structure. Originating in the early Gothic style, in the 14th century it became a mid Gothic structure. In the 16th century, the new incarnation adopted the late Gothic style. At this point in time, it acquired a double nave. The church is a simple but beautiful example of a Gothic church from the late period. However, it does have later adaptations from 1909.

The Church of Our Lady of the Visitation was refurnished. Inside, you can see the “new” Baroque interior. The double nave remains unrepentantly late Gothic as does the tracery vaults. The major statuary is early gothic, dating from the 14th century. It stems from the workshop of the artist known as the Master of the Krumlov Madonna. The church contains the elegant Chapel of St. Anne. Beside its stands the late Gothic bell tower rebuilt in 1909
