Vrthouska Gardens Prague
In Prague’s Lesser Town, you can find a variety of things to do and see. There are monumental structures. There is shopping and sight seeing. There are also places to relax and enjoy the view. A perfect place to do just that is in the beautiful Vrtbouska Gardens.
The Gardens are not spacious acres of land. The plot is small. It only measures some 3,100 square meters. Yet, the designer, F. H. Kanka made every inch of land count. In 1720, he attacked the area, creating a precise pattern. His design for the garden is Italianate. He arranged the beds of flowers in terraces. They tumble down the hill in a delightful and precise manner. There are large staircases to ascend the terraced hills. Adorning the staircase are multiple statues. By M. Braun, they depict familiar Roman Gods and Goddesses. At the peak of the terraced gardens, is a gloriette. You can stand here and look out over the Lesser Town.
