Prague has some unusual and specialized museums. It also houses them in buildings of historical significant. Such is the case with the Czech Police museum. It is for those who are interested in the history of the local police. You can also locate it in a building representing a previous political era in the Czech Republic.

The building on Ke Karlova acted as the Museum of the National Security Police during the time of Communist rule. This group focused their attention on capturing perceived foes of the Communist regime. The building now contains exhibits on criminology and the history of Czech police forces. There is an exhibit on previous infamous crimes. The displays are not for the weak-of-heart. They contain grisly photographs. One notable picture is of a sliced off head sitting in a suitcase. You can check to see if your money is counterfeit by using a special machine. You can also look at a model of an earlier police station. It shows how a station looked under the Hapsburgs. If you are fond of guns, you will enjoy perusing the arsenal. This Museum has everything from regular handguns to those that fire poison pellets and grenades.
