The short advertisement attached to a waste can in Prague says it all: FINGER NAILS WILL BE RIPPED OUT OF ANYONE CAUGHT LITTERING. The Museum is not large. It is in fact, a small, intimate museum – keeping in tune with the practice of torture – up close and personal. In the Museum of Torture, you can let your most violent fantasies prevail. Here, there are more than 60 different instruments of torture including an Iron Maiden. All are modern copies of original Middle Ages torture tools. They come from Italy, the Czech Republic, Germany and other places throughout the European world. Each comes with its own handy explanation about usage. There is also a basic history of torture as well as information about the notorious Witch Hunts and Trials. Warning – squeamish visitors need to stay away.
