Hotels near House of the Golden Ring in Prague - Best deals & budget rates!

Prague offers visitors a bounty of art museums. In many cases, the museum is the house itself, the art on display, the original contents of the house or chateau. The Prague Castle district is rampant with such offerings. If, however, you want to look at the works of modern Czech artists dating from the 20th century, do not head to the hill or visit the Hrad, go to the House of the Golden King.

The House of the Golden King is not a sumptuous palace or chateau. It is a graceful Renaissance Medieval townhouse. The exterior exhibits the style of sgraffiti – a type of etching. Inside, you can sometimes see the original ceiling beams, painted in common with the period. The works inside, however, are far from Medieval. In the cellar are the up-and-coming artists. Above, spread over three floors, are thematic arrangements of such Czech artists as Federico Diaz, Krystof Kintern and Katerina Vincoura. There are Czech Realists Josef Síma and Jiři Štyrský as well as eccentrics Frantĭsek Bílek and Josef Vácal. Only absent are works from the School of Social Realism.
