Hotels near Kinsky Summer Palace in Prague - Best deals & budget rates!

Royalty rarely restricted their residences to one household or home. Prince Kinský was no exception. The Kinský family had a Rococo palace in the Old Town (now a National Gallery) and once owned the Michna Palace in the Little Quarter. The house at the foot of Petrin Hill was once their Summer Palace or Summerhouse.

The Kinský Summer house sits amidst a beautiful English-style garden dating from 1827. The house is from a few years later. The designer was Jindřich Koch. It is a pseudo-Classical structure with a profusion of pillars both inside and out. The façade features several Ionic columns ending in a triangular tympanum. The interior has a large hall filed with columns. There is also a grand triple-branched stairway. Statues decorate its ascent. Inside, you can admire the décor and view the Ethnographic Museum. The Kinský Summer Palace is now home to a permanent exhibit of Folk Art. These include exhibits on costumes, ceramics, embroidery, furniture, glass and wood carving.
