Sokolov, in the Czech Republic, features a forested valley and riverside paths and scenic routes. Visitors cross the footbridge over the Ohře River near the Svatošské Rocks. They depart from their hotels in Sokolov, to wander the streets of Cheb or Loket. Cheb Castle features a 12th century Romanesque Church, a 12th century Black Tower and 17th century fortifications. Cheb also has a museum and the large, Gothic St. Nicholas Church. Loket castle is from the 13th century. It, too, has a lookout tower and impressive fortifications. The Castle was formerly a prison open for you to explore. It sits atop a hill, part of this hilltop town. From here, people hike the approximately three hours to nearby Karlovy Vary.
