Like most Europeans, the people of Denmark are avid followers of football (soccer). Soccer to them is what baseball is to Americans and ice hockey is to Canadians. If you are a fan of European football and you are visiting Denmark, you can watch a game in the comfort of your hotel room. But if your discount hotel is in Copenhagen near the Parken Stadium, you can join the crowd of enthusiastic Danes and see the game from the stands. This is a great experience for any sports fan.
The Parken Stadium is in Faelledparken (Community Park) in the western end of the district of Osterbro. Faelledparken is a vast green area of wide open spaces and tree lined avenues. At one time it was pastureland for livestock, and then a shooting range for the Danish army. In 1906 it became a municipal recreational area with gardens, playgrounds for children, and more recently, a skate boarding rink. There has been a soccer stadium here for almost a hundred years. The 41,000 seat Parken Stadium is the home turf of the Danish National team, as well as the local team, FC Copenhagen. The stadium is also a venue for concerts. Popular acts such as Bruce Springsteen and U2 have performed here. Tours are available in July on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Soccer game and concert schedules will be available in your budget hotel near the Parken Stadium in Copenhagen.
