Osterport Station was built in 1897. It was designed by Heinrich Wenck under the working name Ostbanegaarden (Eastern Railway Station). The present name means Eastern Gate. Osterport was originally the terminus for Kystbanen, but in 1917 when it was connected to Norreport Station, the terminus was relocated to Copenhagen Central Station. It began serving the S-Train in 1934. Osterport Station will be served by Copenhagen Metro lines M3 and M4 on the City Circle Line when the system is completed in 2017.
