If you are staying in a discount hotel near Osterport Station in Copenhagen, you will be close to one of the best transportation systems in Europe. The trains run frequently, the coaches are comfortable, and the fares are reasonable. Osterport Station is served by the Kystbanen and other local trains, as well as by the S-Train System and some of the Inter City trains. This station handles about 30,000 passengers every day.

Osterport Station was built in 1897. It was designed by Heinrich Wenck under the working name Ostbanegaarden (Eastern Railway Station). The present name means Eastern Gate. The original train station is still in use, and was extensively renovated in the 1980s. Osterport was originally the terminus for Kystbanen, but in 1917 when it was connected to Norreport Station, the terminus was relocated to Copenhagen Central Station. It began serving the S-Train in 1934. Osterport Station will be served by Copenhagen Metro lines M3 and M4 on the City Circle Line when the system is completed in 2017.
