Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is the busiest airport in all of Ireland, with over 20 million passengers traveling through it in the course of a year. The airport is conveniently located approximately 10 kilometres north of Dublin City in an area that is known as Collinstown. It is operated by Dublin Airport Authority, which also administers Shannon Airport and Cork International Airport. The airport is the headquarters of Ireland's flag carrier Aer Lingus, and Europe's largest no-frills airline Ryanair. Dublin Airport hasseveral domestic Irish routes, including around thirty routes to its nearest neighbour, the United Kingdom, and a vast network of routes to Continental Europe. In the planning stages is a new runway to be built parallel to the existing runway which opened in 1989. Detailed proposals and planning permission have been submitted for approval to Fingal County Council. In the meantime, the authorities at the airport have worked hard to manage the overcrowed airport by creating rapid exit taxiways to derive maximum efficiency from the existing main runway. At peak hours smaller aircraft make use of one of the two older runways. There are several shops and restaurants available for the convieince of visitors to Dublin Airport. Early check in for your flight will allow you plenty of time to browse through the unique shops and make any last minute purchases before you leave Dublin.
