Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre of Dublin

It has been said that visiting the historic Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre is like taking a stroll through the centuries. Dalkey Castle and Heritage Centre includes a fifteenth century medieval tower house, a tenth century Church & Graveyard, a Modern Exhibition Area and a visually stunning Art Gallery. Visitors can take delight in the Centre's perfectly scaled models and learn about the exciting history of the Castle and its beautiful surroundings by reading the poetic text on the information panels written by local Tony-Award winner, Hugh Leonard. The surrounding area on the southern end of Dublin Bay is one of the most scenic in Ireland and the views can be enhanced by joining in the Heritage Centre sponsored Guided Historical Walks, where trained guides enthrall visitors with the lore of the Castle as they visit its various points of interest. Lovers of literature will enjoy the Centre sponsored Guided Literary Walks in which a tour guide points out the areas used in the settings of work by Hugh Leonard, James Joyce, Flann O'Brien and George Bernard Shaw. A short Introductory Tour is included in the admission price. You can view a video of the archaeology of the area, presented by Archaeologist, Chris Corlett.
