National Gallery of Ireland In Dublin

The National Gallery of Ireland is home to the Irish national collection of Irish and European art. Located in the centre of Dublin city in had one entrance on Merrion Square, beside Leinster House, and another entrance on Clare Street. The National Gallery of Ireland was founded in 1854 and opened its doors ten years later. While the Gallery has an extensive, representative collection of Irish painting, it is also famous for containing many examples of Italian Baroque and Dutch masters painting. There are several activities of interest to Gallery visitors, including guided tours of the works. Special tours for visually and hearing impaired visitors, can also be booked by writing three weeks in advance of the date you plan to visit. There is a regular programme of art courses, workshops and outreach activities for adults, teenagers, children and families. After enjoying a tour of the National Gallery of Ireland and visually partaking of the splendor it offers, visitors can refresh themselves with a visit to the Gallery's restaurant, Fitzers at the Wintergarden Restaurant and Café. Admission to the National Gallery of Ireland is free, but donations are accepted. There are several boxes throughout the building where visitors may leave donations that help to support the many projects and activities that the Gallery sponsors each year.
