Great Sphinx Cairo

The Great Sphinx, a monument of wonder and intrigue, is most associated with Egypt and the land of the pharaohs. Cut into the limestone bedrock, the Sphinx has a body of a lion and the head of a man wearing a crown. This monument in 185 feet long (57 meters) and 20 feet wide (6 meters) and is located in the Pyramid complex of Giza. The Sphinx has sparked the imagination of artists and poets for thousands of years and has awed everyone that has stood before it. Even Napoleon recognized the greatness of this monument, even though his men may have shot off the nose for target practice.
