The train has conquered many untamed lands from the Americas to Africa. Providing a faster connection between areas, trains forged the way for pioneers and discovery. The Egyptian Rail Museum in Cairo documents the locomotives history in this part of Africa. Located in the Cairo Train Station, this museum has several replicas and displays of engines and objects from the beginning of the rail ways.
In 1854, after earlier complications, the first railway was completed and connected Alexandria with Kafer Eassa. Later this railway reached to Cairo and then to Suez. This Museum exhibits transportation methods before the train was brought to Egypt ass well as the development of trains, stations and bridges. There is a section devoted to the airplane but is smaller then the other areas. Traveling by train through the sands of Egypt is a romantic fantasy that can still be done to this day with the several connecting railways. Visitors will surely find this museum fascinating.
